Rolling

The process of shaping plastic by passing materials through two rotating cylinders (rollers) is called rolling. The rollers rotate at the same speed and in opposite directions. The material takes the desired shape as it passes between the rollers,

The Sendzimir rolling mill in our factory, equipped with 20 rollers, is capable of rolling in the narrowest tolerances requested by the customer, ranging from 0.20mm to 3.00mm and up to a maximum of 1300mm. The materials coming out of the rolling mill line are characterized as Full hard.

In the cold rolling process, stainless steel sheet is reduced in thickness through successive passes on a reversing rolling mill. If further reduction, meaning to thin the piece more, is required in the rolling process, an intermediate annealing may be necessary after high deformations, followed by cleaning the surface in an acid bath before continuing with rolling once again.

When cold rolling is completed, similar to hot rolling, annealing and acid bath processes are required. After the acid bath, on a machine with a twin-roll arrangement, the surface is pressed with large rollers without reducing the thickness below the plastic deformation limit. The goal here is to achieve the desired level of flatness and surface properties of the strip.

In some types, especially in sheets around 0.5-2.0 mm, the quality is further improved by performing tension leveling in specialized machines to adjust the thickness. 80 Austenitic stainless steels have very high ductility at room temperatures, which provides excellent formability in cold forming processes, from simple bending to complex deep drawing and stretching operations. The differences between the qualities are related to variations in strength and work hardening behavior
